SustainaCycle

The primary goal of this project is to increase the rate of circular material use in the Central Baltic region (Estonia, Finland and Latvia). The program focuses on making the collection, reuse and recycling of plastic, textile and electronic waste mor efficient through innovative solutions and cross-border cooperation.

As part of the project, smart collection points and mobile waste management solutions are being tested in the participating countries. SustainaCycle connects these waste collectors with recycling companies, while helping people figure out how to sort their waste more consciously through awareness campaigns. The goal is to create a network that returns secondary raw materials back into the economy, thereby reducing the demand for virgin raw materials.

The expected results include the establishment of innovative demonstration sites in Estonia, Finland and Latvia, which can collect up to 40,000 kg of plastic, textile and electronic waste per year. The project aims to recycle or reuse at least 60% of the collected waste and promote responsible waste management practices and sustainable lifestyles in local communities.
The target groups are local and regional public authorities, infrastructure and public service providers, business support organizations and SMEs, NGOs, and the general public.

This initiative not only reduces the volume of waste but also substantially supports the development of cross-border circular economy.
